Experimental and Temporary Art Space Opening in Eastworks Building

Easthampton, MA - September 3, 2014 - Fugitive Arts Project Space, a temporary gallery and event space dedicated to promoting experimental projects and emerging artists will open its doors during the September Easthampton Art Walk, kicking off a three-month residency in the Eastworks Building.

The Fugitive Arts Project Space Grand Opening will feature a one-night mural created by over a dozen local artists and performances by Swine Lake, Certain Death, and Daniel Perlmutter on Saturday, September 13th 5-8 PM.

Fugitive Arts Project Space will host a wide variety of art events, including art exhibitions, experimental music, film screenings, a fashion show, zine releases, and an artists’ flea market. Events and exhibitions are organized by independent curators and supported by Fugitive Arts Project Space volunteers. The Fugitive Arts event calendar is available online:https://fugitivearts.org/calendar

The Fugitive Arts Project Space is operated by Esther S White (printmaker, publisher, and textile artist of Northampton) & Jenna Weingarten (writer and musician of Holyoke). Weingarten and White worked together with a group of artists to run HeadQuarters, an alternative event space that operated for over a year in an underground storage unit in Northampton, MA through June, 2014.

The Pioneer Valley is home to a busy and diverse community of artists and performers and there is a great need for non-commercial and alternative art spaces. “We are thrilled to be able to support our fellow artists with this project!” says White.
